PURAQUA focuses on improving wastewater treatment by developing advanced photoactive membranes with antifouling properties. These membranes, created through additive manufacturing, aim to enhance the removal of contaminants and enable safe reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation, addressing water scarcity issues.
Conventional wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are not effective in removing substances from our daily basis, acting as the main release point of Contaminants of Emerging Concerns (CECs), Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (ARB) and Antibiotic Resistance Genes (ARGs) to the environment.
