The PUREFOOD project aims to assess contaminants in novel foods entering the EU market. By analyzing a wide range of regulated and emerging contaminants, it seeks to enhance food safety regulations and ensure consumer protection as new food products are introduced.
The EU market for novel foods is expanding rapidly, with current products including novel plant-based alternatives, edible insects, mycoproteins, 3D-printed foods, algae-based foods, and edible packaging.
