This project aims to enhance the understanding of integer programming techniques used in optimization problems. It focuses on developing a theoretical framework to explain the efficiency of various solver methods and their applications, while also incorporating experimental validation with real-world instances.
Integer programming (IP), i.e. linear optimizationwith integrality constraints on variables, is one of the most successfulmethods for solving large scale optimization problems in practice.
While manyof the base IP problems such as the traveling salesman problem (TSP) orsatisfiability (SAT) are NP-Complete, IPs with tens of thousands of variables areroutinely solved in just a few hours by current state of the art IP solvers.
