This project explores the use of optical lattices to study ultra-cold atoms, which can mimic behaviors in solid-state systems. It aims to develop techniques for non-destructive probing and manipulation of these atoms, enhancing our understanding of quantum mechanics and potential applications in quantum computing.
The interdisciplinary boundary between the fields of quantum information science, condensed matter, and ultra-cold atomic physics is at the heart of the new field of quantum engineering and will play an important role for the enhancement of our understanding of strongly correlated materials.
