Optical Frequency Comb (OFC) are laser devices which emit light in a wide spectrum consisting of equidistant peaks in frequency space.
The FET project “Qombs” made major advances in high performance of the OFC by employing quantum cascade laser sources (QCL) able to operate over all the mid-IR and far-IR region of the spectrum.
However, the applications of the QCL-OFC are for the moment rather limited and all potential markets remain hidden.
