The QUEEN project seeks to produce metallurgical silicon domestically from quartz sand, reducing reliance on imports and minimizing environmental impact. It aims to develop a sustainable extraction and refinement process to support the European Union's technological and sustainability goals.
The QUEEN project, with its strong consortium of participants from eight countries, addresses a significant challenge - EU's heavy reliance on external sources for critical raw materials, especially metallurgical silicon (MG-Si).
