This project investigates the concept of functional rarity in ecosystems, focusing on rare traits within plant communities in French grasslands. It aims to classify these traits and assess their impact on ecosystem health and function, particularly through experimental studies involving microbial interactions.
Rare species have long been the focus of conservation attention, but the commonness or rarity of particular characteristics or phenotypes is generally ignored.
