This project develops a closed-loop epidemic monitoring system using physics-informed neural networks to improve the accuracy of epidemic predictions. By integrating real-time data and system-theoretic tools, it aims to enhance policy recommendations for epidemic mitigation based on geographic and demographic factors.
The current COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the failure of existing epidemic monitoring techniques in timely predicting the epidemic situation and facilitating efficient policy recommendations.
Because of being open-loop or linearization-based, these techniques cannot handle model and data uncertainties effectively.
