This research examines late-medieval administrative and fiscal records from the county of Savoy to shed light on institutional development and socio-economic changes. By analyzing these detailed accounts, the project aims to enhance understanding of the origins of modern European governance and economic practices.
The present research project focuses on an unjustly neglected corpus of late-medieval sources, the administrative and fiscal accounts (‘computi’) of the castellanies – basic administrative units – of the county of Savoy.
