The REGAIN project focuses on developing a local treatment for sensorineural hearing loss by repurposing gamma-secretase inhibitors to regenerate inner ear hair cells. This innovative approach aims to provide a new therapeutic option for millions suffering from hearing loss.
Hearing loss is a chronic non-communicable disease disabling over 328 million adults, and 32 million children worldwide.
Sensorineural hearing loss due to loss of auditory hair cells was long thought to be irreversible.
