The ReMFra project aims to develop a large-scale process for recovering metals and minerals from steelmaking residues, such as dust and slag. By utilizing advanced pyrometallurgical techniques, it seeks to enhance resource efficiency and support carbon neutrality through the valorization of waste materials.
Each year the EU steel sector generates several million tons of metal and mineral containing residues that are currently largely under-exploited and are often sent to landfills with an enormous waste of resources that could replace virgin materials.
