This project aims to develop an eco-friendly method for removing microplastics from wastewater using natural microbial communities. By enhancing microorganisms capable of degrading polyethylene terephthalate, the project seeks to create a biobased technology for effective wastewater treatment.
The accumulation of microplastics (MPs) in the environment poses a great threat to the biosphere.
Known and demonstrated conventional methodologies used in the treatment of MPs in wastewater have several limitations.
