Tracegrow is working on recycling alkaline batteries to produce micronutrient fertilizers, addressing both battery waste and soil nutrient deficiencies. This project aims to create a sustainable solution for recycling while contributing to agricultural productivity.
The majority of alkaline battery recycling plants are working at maximum capacity and cannot cope with increasing demand.
Safety issues, vast energy consumption and high process temperatures make smelting plants a dangerous and outdated technology.
Battery manufacturers have produced and distributed over 10 billion alkaline batteries worldwide and the amount of used batteries increases at six percent annually.
