This project develops a wireless modem called REVOsdr for drone communications, enabling reliable long-range connectivity. It aims to enhance the operational capabilities of inspection drones, allowing them to cover several kilometers safely and economically, thus transforming drone-based services.
The use of professional drones for the inspection of infrastructure and surveying has been increasing dramatically over the last years.
However, there are technological limitations in the wireless communication systems that connect the drone and its operator.
The inspection drone can't fly further than a few hundred meters from the operator, resulting in economically unviable services.
