This project explores the role of specific proteins in Schwann cells during nerve repair. It investigates how these proteins influence cell survival and regeneration processes after nerve injury, aiming to enhance understanding of nerve healing mechanisms.
Nerve repair depends critically on injury-induced Schwann cell dedifferentiation, an adaptive injury response that generates the denervated Schwann cell, a cell that enables peripheral nerves, unlike CNS tissue, to regenerate after injury.
