This project focuses on understanding and manipulating vascular patterns in plants, particularly in crops. By refining a computational model based on the model plant Arabidopsis, the research aims to translate findings to other species, potentially improving water usage in agriculture.
The vascular tissues provide the main transport system for water and sugars in all higher plants and therefore may represent an important trait that can be manipulated in crop plants.
