The project aims to develop fully biodegradable superabsorbent polymers from starch by scaling up a novel platform. This initiative targets the disposable diaper industry, addressing global waste issues while exploring viable business opportunities.
The proposed work in this SuperAbsorbent Polymers Through Oxidized Starch [SAPTOS] initiative is aimed at the scale-up of Rodenburg’s novel SAP platform towards fully biodegradable disposable diapers, build on cheap starch side streams and a low cost continuous reactor process.
Such platform will be a breakthrough in solving a major global waste problem.
