This project focuses on combating antimicrobial resistance by developing a combination of the antibiotic meropenem and a proprietary inhibitor, ANT3310. The aim is to effectively treat hospital-acquired infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria.
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) due to multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria are an increasingly serious healthcare threat, exacerbated by major economic issues underlying the development of new antibacterial drugs.
The effectiveness of β-lactam antibiotics, the most important class of antibacterial agents, is impaired by the production of β-lactamase enzymes by drug-resistant bacteria.
