This project investigates the use of scientific models in understanding natural phenomena. It aims to clarify the relationship between models and the systems they represent, exploring implications across various scientific fields through detailed case studies.
In this project we will develop a systematic account of how scientific models are used to understand the natural world.
It’s generally accepted, by both practicing scientists and philosophers of science, that scientific models are the primary (although perhaps not the sole) units of scientific investigation.
