SEEGLASS is a project that develops an optical sorting system to recover glass from municipal solid waste. The technology aims to improve recycling rates and reduce landfill costs by efficiently extracting glass from waste streams.
The amount of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in the EU28 reached 245 million tons in 2012.
Nowadays, Europe directives forwaste management are more restrictive each year (e.g Landfill Directive 1999/31/EC), but unfortunately, landfill disposal stillrepresents 34% of total MSW generated.
