This project focuses on improving seismic hazard assessments in the Euro-Mediterranean region by developing a Ground-Motion Prediction Equation. It aims to analyze small earthquake data to refine models for predicting ground shaking in areas with low to moderate seismicity.
A unified seismic hazard assessment in the Euro-Mediterranean region is currently under progress (European FP7 SHARE project).
One of the key step in the procedure of hazard assessment is the use of a Ground-Motion Prediction Equation (GMPE) which allow to estimate the level of shaking accordingly to some seismological parameters (earthquake magnitude, distance from source to site...).
Typically these models are determined from the analysis of strong ground-motion records.
