This project focuses on developing nanosensors to monitor the dynamics of manganese and zinc in plants, specifically in Arabidopsis thaliana. It aims to enhance understanding of how plants regulate metal uptake and storage for optimal growth.
Metals, such as manganese or zinc, are vital elements for plant growth and development.
They are involved in many biological processes and one third of characterized enzymes are metalloproteins.
Because metal excess or metal deprivation is deleterious for cells, plants have developed mechanisms to regulate the uptake, the transport and the storage of metals.
