This project investigates the impact of biological sex on cell death during ischaemia/reperfusion injury in acute myocardial infarction. By studying both mouse and human hearts using advanced techniques, it aims to uncover sex-based differences that could lead to new therapeutic targets in cardiovascular medicine.
Acute myocardial infarction (MI) accounts for millions of morbidity and mortality cases worldwide.
