This project explores the neural circuits in Drosophila that differentiate male and female responses to pheromones. It aims to understand how specific neuronal wiring influences social behaviors, particularly focusing on the male pheromone 11-cis-Vaccenyl-acetate and its effects on mating and aggression.
Sex differences are basic for reproduction, parenting and other social interactions.
Pheromone secretions that are differentially perceived by males and females, release stereotypical behaviours in many species.
