The SIMS project aims to develop a low-cost, miniaturized sensing system by integrating various components like nanosensors and printed displays on a single substrate. This technology targets applications in health and environmental monitoring, particularly for cholesterol measurement.
The widespread availability of smart miniaturised systems is limited by the inability to integrate a sufficient number of functionalities into a single device at low cost and high volume using traditional production technologies.
Organic, flexible and printed electronics (OFPE) offers this possibility.
