This project explores the use of iron-manganese-silicon alloys in powder metallurgy to produce cost-effective metallic products. It focuses on optimizing processing conditions and evaluating the mechanical properties of these materials to enhance their viability in manufacturing applications.
Powder Metallurgy (PM) is a Sustainable Manufacturing Technique which allows producing cost effective, near-net-shape metallic products by die-pressing metal powder followed by sintering at elevated temperature to consolidate the material.
In the last years, the increasing cost and volatility in prices of the common alloying elements (Cu, Ni and Mo), demands the research of new alloying alternatives to maintain a competitive position.
