The SINUSLIGHT project aims to develop a handheld medical device using laser spectroscopy to diagnose sinus conditions like sinusitis. This device provides quick, non-invasive measurements of sinus cavity conditions, potentially reducing unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions and improving patient care.
The aim of the SINUSLIGHT project is to develop a business plan for the continued development and commercialisation of a hand-held medical device, based on laser spectroscopy, to be used within health-care to aid in diagnosing sinus related problems, e.g. sinusitis.
The device provides information on the open/air filled sinus cavity size, the oxygen concentration in the cavity and thereby the ventilation status of the sinus.
