The project develops Sislum, an advanced lighting system designed to enhance road safety by improving visibility at pedestrian crossings. It aims to reduce road accidents by up to 70% through smart mobility solutions, addressing the limitations of current warning technologies.
Walking is 36 times more dangerous than driving, and 300 times more dangerous than flying.
The first road crossing was invented in the 1930’s and remain almost the same since then.
Each year road crashes generates around 95,000 fatalities and 2.4 million injuries only in EU region. 90 % of crashes are linked to human error, with pedestrians and riders constituting the main victims (39% of all deaths in road crashes) due to primarily inadequate visibility of pedestrians and vehicle speed.
