The SMART-RT project aims to develop a method for mapping interactions between small molecules and RNA in live cells. By using small molecules to induce reverse transcription, it seeks to create detailed interaction maps that enhance our understanding of RNA biology and aid in therapeutic discovery.
RNA is vital for cellular processes that include transcription, translation, and gene expression, making it an attractive drug target.
However, deciphering the selective interaction between small molecules and RNA remains challenging due to RNA's dynamic structure and limited chemical functionality.
