SPELITEC is developing a treatment for Shiga toxin-producing E. coli infections in children, using a product called EB003. This innovative approach aims to eliminate the bacteria without harming the patient's microbiota or causing resistance.
SPELITEC is the first treatment for Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) infections, which affects primary young children and can be fatal in 1-5% of the cases.
Currently there is no validated safe treatment: hospitalized patients receive only symptomatic treatments consisting of rehydration coupled with transfusions and dialysis for haemolytic uremic complications.
