The project focuses on developing new chiral materials that enhance chemical reactions through a phenomenon called chiral-induced spin selectivity. By creating chiral covalent organic frameworks, it aims to improve the efficiency of catalytic processes, particularly in oxygen reduction reactions.
In recent times a paradigm shift in chemical reactivity has been induced by the role of chirality.
Indeed, chiral structures have the special electronic property of preferentially transmitting electrons with one spin direction.
