SPONGE focuses on enhancing the safe recharge of urban aquifers by managing runoff water, addressing microplastics and other contaminants. The project aims to improve water quality and management in urban areas, contributing to environmental protection and resilience against climate change.
SPONGE aims at contributing to improve safe recharge of urban aquifers expanding the Sponge city strategy, in which runoff water could be collected not only to reduce waterlogging but also to foster the recharge of stressed aquifers.
