This project focuses on testing and qualifying carbon fiber struts made with tailored fiber placement technology for use in space applications. The aim is to reduce weight by 75% compared to traditional metal struts, enhancing thermal stability and decreasing environmental impact.
This proposal aims at qualification by extensive testing of market relevant carbon fibre struts manufactured with the tailored fibre placement (TFP) technology up to TRL 8 for space applications.A strut is a very common structural element in launchers and satellites.
