SSPIN aims to create a service platform for identifying species and sex from bone and tooth specimens using high-resolution mass spectrometry. This technology will democratize access to identification methods, enabling broader research in paleontology and archaeology.
Currently there is no broadly available strategy to perform large-scale sex and species identification on morphologically non-informative bone and tooth specimens from paleontological, palaeoanthropological and archaeological contexts.
