This project focuses on the total synthesis of bioactive indole alkaloids from a common precursor. By developing novel synthetic strategies, it aims to enhance the availability of these compounds for drug discovery and evaluate their biological activities through advanced screening methods.
Natural product chemistry plays a pivotal role in drug discovery. A recent authoritative survey indicated that 61% of marketed drugs in the period of 1981-2002 could be traced to or were inspired by natural products.
