This project focuses on the Southern Uto-Aztecan languages, aiming to recover aspects of their ancient language and culture. It employs both qualitative and quantitative methods to document languages and analyze historical relationships, while collaborating with indigenous communities for language preservation.
A thousand years before Europeans arrived in the Americas, a vast region, covering what is now North-western Mexico and the US Southwest, was inhabited by speakers of languages belonging to the Uto-Aztecan language family.
