The SUSTAIN project develops innovative self-healing concrete that absorbs carbon emissions by utilizing recycled construction materials. It combines bio-mineralisation and carbonation processes to enhance the sustainability of concrete, addressing both carbon emissions and construction waste management.
Excessive carbon emissions and management of construction and demolition waste (CDW) are critical challenges that the EU seeks to overcome to achieve climate neutrality.
