This project aims to understand the evolutionary relationship between ants and their microbiota through metagenomic analysis. By examining 50 ant species, it seeks to uncover how these microbial communities influence ant ecology and immune systems, shedding light on their co-evolutionary dynamics.
Symbiosis and sociality define the evolutionary success of life, but the large-scale synergy between hosts and microbiotas is poorly understood.
