The T-LICS project investigates how intonation features transfer between languages, focusing on a Basque sub-dialect influenced by French and Spanish. It combines fieldwork and machine learning to analyze intonation divergence in speakers of different ages, aiming to enhance understanding of language contact phenomena.
Languages often come into contact, as witnessed by the wide spread of bilingualism across the world.
Whenever language contact takes place, there emerges the possibility of features from one language being transferred to the other one.
