The T-OP project investigates how specific proteins, called cytokines, affect the effectiveness of adoptive T cell therapy for cancer treatment. By uniting experts in various fields, it aims to improve the production and clinical application of these therapies, enhancing their potential to combat tumors.
Over the last years, immunotherapy using a patients own immune system to fight tumours has emerged as an important complement to standard treatments.
The clinical implementation of immunotherapeutics has established T cells as efficient anti-cancer weapons if targeted by specific drugs.
Their therapeutic utilization has recently come to a breakthrough: adoptive T cell therapy (ACT), collecting and transforming the patients own T cells to treat cancer.
