Kern Tec has developed a method to detoxify protein-rich seed presscakes, which are typically discarded due to toxicity. This process transforms waste into a safe, nutritious protein powder suitable for various food industry applications, promoting sustainability and resource efficiency.
Millions of tons of oil seeds / fruit seeds, especially their protein-rich presscakes currently go to waste as they contain a too high amount of cyanogenic glycosides.
As these naturally present substances are toxic at a certain level of consumption, these seed(-presscakes) currently cannot enter the food industry and are as a result being disposed.
