This project focuses on developing portable optical atomic clocks using micro-combs to achieve unprecedented timing accuracy. By exploring new physics for generating micro-combs, the research aims to enhance telecommunications and earth mapping technologies.
Precise timing has led to many advances, such as GPS and the Internet, which depend critically on frequency and time standards.
