This project aims to advance terahertz technology by combining terahertz time-domain spectroscopy with quantum cascade lasers. The goal is to achieve precise temporal resolution and investigate fundamental laser processes, leading to new applications in scientific research and technology.
The terahertz (THz) region of the electromagnetic spectrum, between the infrared and microwave range, has historically suffered from a lack of sources and detectors, leading to the phrase ‘terahertz gap’ to be coined.
In recent years however there have been a number of sources and detectors developed in this region.
