This project investigates the genetic and ecological factors influencing the phenotypic diversity of spinner dolphins. By analyzing genetic variation across different ecotypes, the research aims to understand evolutionary mechanisms and support conservation efforts for the species.
The spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) contains six groups (ecotypes) that exhibit striking differences in morphology, ecology, and mating system, but little genetic differentiation at neutral loci.
