This research aims to enhance understanding of Mediterranean shipbuilding techniques by analyzing historical wrecks. The goal is to compare these techniques with Atlantic models to better comprehend the evolution of European shipbuilding.
The knowledge of modern naval architecture reached an important stage in the late 80’s with the first characterization of 16th century Ibero-Atlantic shipbuilding drafted by Thomas Oertling.
