This project investigates converting liver cells into insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells to address diabetes treatment challenges. By understanding cellular plasticity, it aims to develop a novel cell-based therapy that could provide a sustainable solution for diabetes management.
Diabetes is a degenerative disease that affects over 350 million persons worldwide.
Type 1 and type 2 diabetes are associated with either destruction or dysfunction of pancreatic insulin-producing β cells.
