This project focuses on understanding how timing differences in cell development affect the reproducibility of embryonic growth. By comparing species with varying developmental tempos, it aims to identify mechanisms that ensure consistent formation of cell types during embryogenesis.
Reproducibility in development is maintained via precisely-timed execution of gene regulatory programs required to build all cell types of the embryo.
However, many perturbations challenge this robustness and accelerate developmental tempo, leading to increased phenotypic variability.
