This project focuses on enhancing the understanding of CD8 T cell functions to improve immunotherapy and vaccine strategies. It aims to identify molecular factors that influence T cell activation and memory formation, ultimately striving to optimize T cell responses for treating infections and tumors.
Cytotoxic T cells have enormous potential for prophylactic and therapeutic interventions against problematic acute or chronic infections and against malignant tumors. A major obstacle to utilizing them effectively is our limited understanding of the molecular foundation that is necessary for CD8 T cells to fulfil their pleiotropic functions.
