This project aims to model the movement of plastic in the ocean to understand its environmental impact. By simulating various interactions and pathways, it seeks to provide insights that can inform policy and mitigation strategies against marine plastic pollution.
The amount of plastic in our ocean is exponentially growing, with recent estimates of more than 5 million metric tonnes of plastic reaching the ocean each year.
This plastic infiltrates the ocean food chain and thus poses a major threat to marine life.
