The project focuses on creating a cost-effective two-stage heat treatment system for timber. It combines microwave technology for direct heating with a natural oil formulation to restore the wood's mechanical properties, targeting the wood and timber market.
Recent developments of large scale heat treatment processes that use a variety of indirect heat sources are now available, as are traditional preservation treatments which involve certain hazardous chemicals.
